Gisele Bundchen on Melrose Avenue yesterday wearing True Religion jean shorts while filming a music video for Black Cowboy. I don't think she could look bad if she tried.
If you are keen to find a way to continue on wearing your denim shorts even though winter is well on the way you could take a leaf out of Kate Moss' book and try this look - denim hotpants, boots, woolly jumper and a vintage rock-chick fur coat.
It may surprise some that the extremely European-looking label Parasuco is actually a Canadian company. Creator and designer, Salvatore Parasuco, is the son of Italian immigrants in Canada. Started in 1975, the brand has always drawn on the deep history of Italy, capturing the fearless sexuality of its culture and fashion.
This season, Parasuco strips down its usually highly embellished jeans for a more laid back F/W 08 collection. Vampy gothic lines mix with faded 70s colours for a unique take on this season's trend of country cool. The look comes together with reverse scalloped backpockets and tanned stitching reminiscent of the careless abandon of cowboys roaming. A bit country, a bit rock 'n roll, expect high society rebels and libertines alike to adopt the look.
Mandy Moore is quite the hipster these days, she was photographed in the regulation indie attire of skinny (J Brand) jeans and black Converse whilst passing through Los Angeles Airport recently.
Most denim brands sell their jeans from the own website and to be honest the results are usually pretty uninspiring. Rich & Skinny jeans though have really made an effort to make their website a fun experience as well as showing off their jeans in the best way possible. Their online store features a selection of virtual models (each wearing a different style of jeans) who when selected step up onto a podium and strike a few poses. Even if you aren't actually interested in buying their jeans it's till worth checking out the site.
Much as I hate to print rumours, this one is just too juicy to ignore. According to Fashionista.com Britney Spears is rumoured to be appearing at the Diesel "Dirty Thirty" party in New York. Whilst these rumours were spreading Britney herself was out shopping in LA wearing a pair of True Religion jeans.
Levi's current "Live Unbuttoned" global marketing campaign has launched yet another viral element this week. "Unbutton Your Beast" is a site where you can send a multimedia message to friends via the unbuttoned crotch of a pair of Levi's jeans (see above). And Levi's (or at least the people that create these viral campaigns for them) even went to the effort of making a special message for Denimology, which was rather nice of them.
Baggy boyfriend-style jeans have been showing up all over Hollywood recently and most people rocking this look have been seen in the current hottest new denim brand Current/Elliott. Lindsay Lohan though has gone one step further by getting herself an pair of reproduction vintage Levi's 501s - jeans don't come anymore classic than this.
