Premium Denim = Hot Momma
I often get asked what is the difference between premium denim and regular denim and why the does premium denim cost so much. Put simply the difference is the quality of the denim and the cut of the jeans. This could not be more perfectly demonstrated than by these two photos of Brazilian supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio. In the photo above she is wearing a pair of
Taverniti So Jeans which cost $200 and which make her look a million dollars. In the photo below she is show wearing a pair of
Victoria's Secret Jeans which cost $90 and which manage the astonishing feat of making her look almost ordinary. I don't think any more proof is required of the value of a good pair of jeans.

These pictures prove nothing. A hot body is a hot body whether it is wearing Levis or Taverniti So. Anyone who has ever seen Gap ads with celebrities knows that.
The only difference I can see is that the Taverniti jean is showing more skin, while the VS is a bit more modest. FYI, the superlowrise-show-skin-look is out of date.
For the record, I wear VS jeans and high end denims above $200 in my closet. It's all about how you feel, not the price you pay.

She doesn't look ordinary as you mentioned in an e-mail pointing to this post. Maybe to some jeans snob, but not to everyone else.
Victoria's Secret doesn't make great clothing, and the cut and fit of their non-lingerie items is usually poor. Their jeans aren't that nice, but that doesn't mean than all jeans that cost less than $100 are inferior. There are decent jeans that are $50 and most people can't afford much more.
To say that premium jeans are necessary because Victoria's Secret jeans are crap is pretty bad logic.

Amazing, you are right!

Can you elaborate on the difference? The only thing i honestly see is the color (though the faded black seemed ok) and the dreadful bootcut cut.

Denimology: I think you proved your point. Whether it's jeans, clothing, or shoes, it's all about construction.

i agree completely with this article, and i thin the pictures prove the point completely

I although I tend to agree, with the article, I also think that the other reason that the premium denim brands cost more is because they are also creating the new trends while the others follow.
This is the price you pay to be a trendsetter and not a trend follower.
