This week's Q & A is with Ronan, Loomstate and Edun Designer, Ronan Gregory .

1) Why do you think after 200 years jeans are still one of the most popular items of clothing?

    Practical, functional, easy to wear and always sexy

2) Last time I counted there were over 50 brands of premium denim jeans, what makes your jeans (Loomstate and Edun) stand out from the rest?
    Loomstate : organic, americana feeling, classic denim

    Edun is a for profit business that works on a micro-level to help build the skill set of our factory base. Equally, Edun acts as a voice to encourage the fashion community to do business in Africa as a means to bring the continent out of extreme poverty. Edun works on the basis of trade vs aid to help build sustainable communities. We currently produce in India, Peru, Tunisia, Kenya, Lesotho, and Madagascar.


3) Who do you imagine is a typical (Loomstate and Edun) customer?
    Edun & Loomstate : Someone who cares just as much about the aesthetic of there clothing as they do about how and where it is produced.

4) Where do you get your inspiration from?
    Edun: Nature at Night

5) Are there any essential jeans that everyone should have in their wardrobe?

    Loomstate: Flux skinny leg for women and Genus slim leg for men.

    Edun: Sage straight leg jean in Ebony for women and Eclipse straight leg in Ebony and Rosetta Stone for men

6) Which style and wash of your jeans (Loomsate and Edun) are flying out of the shops the quickest at the moment?

    Edun: Sage (five pocket straight leg) in Ebony and Sylph (skinny leg) in pinstripe

    Loomstate: Flux - five pocket women's skinny leg in Noir and Genus - five pocket men's slim leg in Noir.


7) What have been your favourite pair of jeans that you have produced?
    Sage straight leg jean

8) How many pairs of jeans do you currently own and which are your favourites?
    About 50. Edun, Loomstate and Rogan are my favorites.

9) Are you a "wash your jeans after each wear" person or a "wear your jeans for six months before you wash them" person?
    Definitely a "wear your jeans for six months before I wash them"

10) Do you own jeans for different occasions (for instance I have work jeans, smart jeans, weekend jeans, holiday jeans, jeans for going to concerts in, jeans for gardening in) if so what have you got?

    Nope. All my jeans are for all occasions .

11) Which is your favourite jeans shop?
    Rogan store

14) Which celebs are currently wearing your jeans (Loomstate and Edun)?

12) How important big an effect does it have on your sales when a celeb is seen wearing a pair of your jeans?
    It definitely helps us out a bit with spreading awareness. But, most people who are buying our brands are all ready loyal costumers in the know of our missions.

13) Who is your current favourite denim icon (male & female). I am thinking the person who has the most denim style?
    Kate Hudson, Heath Ledger

14) Which person living or dead would you most like to see in a pair of your jeans?

    Ghandi

15) If denim jeans had not been invented, what would we all be wearing?
    We would all be frolicking around in the buff...thank God for denim!

16) And finally, any predictions for future trends in denim jeans??
    More denim companies will follow our footsteps in using organic cotton.

Too bad Edun is going out of busines, but I guess Greg still has two lines to go on...

I think you will find you are mistaken. Edun is not going out of business.

Edun hasn't officially gone out of business yet, but their jeans aren't selling. They have to re-design, come up with additional financing, and/or increase celeb endorsement if they want to remain in business another year.
