Victoria Beckham might be launching her own denim collection soon but that doesn't seem to have stopped her wearing rival brands. On her recent trip to Los Angeles she wore no less than three different pairs of jeans by the ultra-skinny ultra-sexy UK denim label Superfine.
CNN.com has a report on the boom in premium denim, with sales up to $15.8 billion in 2006, from $15.2 billion a year earlier and $14 billion in 2004. Furthermore the growth doesn't look like stopping anytime soon as the number of buyers for women's jeans attending a denim trade show recently jumped 72 percent. However all this money floating around doesn't mean guaranteed success for all the new denim labels being launched, according to experts there isn't enough room for everybody and producing great looking jeans is not enough - you must also have business expertise and industry savvy
A group of denim heads from the SuperFuture Forum have entered into a competition to see who can get the best natural fade on their jeans. Each of the 30 entrants bought an identical pair of Samurai SO500XX Jeans on Nov 1st last year. After twelve months photos each pair of jeans will be posted online where you can vote on the pair which you think has aged the best. Now a new denim brand named Lips Jeans is going to make your life a lot easier as they are have launched a denim collection inspired by the colours and cuts of the 1970s. For the women that means the early 70s when waists were high and flares were wide and for the men it is the later 70s when legs were skinny and ...er legs were skinny.
High-waisted denim is big news in 2007 and here are a couple of celebs that are right on top of this trend. Hollywood fashionista Mischa Barton was photographed in a pair of Sass & Bide Hulsey Strutters last week whilst Black Eyed Pea Fergie wore an unknown pair of high-waisted skinny leg jeans when she appeared on MTV's TRL recently.
UNIQLO, Japan’s most popular apparel retailer are launching a Japanese Premium Denim Collection. If you read this site regularly you will know that if you want the best jeans in the world you are going to have to go to Japan or get them imported - and it is going to cost you. However because UNIQLO has 750 stores globally and is buying in bulk they have been able to negotiate prices with Japanese suppliers that means they are currently the ownly company able to retail premium Japanese denim outside of Japan at super low prices - $39.50 to $59.95. The collection includes all types of denim from skinny to super-wide available in a range of finishes and washes.

Islamic holiday marking the end of Ramadan (the month of fasting) when Muslims attend special congregational prayers. To really appreciate the ad you have to view the larger version where you will see the denim threads in the bottom half of the image are actually people kneeling down to pray.
Here's another collaboration from Levi's this time with Japanese brand atmos. They have taken some classic 1944 and 1955 Levi's and added a trainer and label print (1944) and some coloured emobroidered stars (1955). Currently they are only available in Japan however they can be ordered online from atmos (Source: Freshnessmag).
