Wahoojin Hand-Painted Denim

If you are looking for a pair of men's jeans that are really going to make you stand out in a crowd then you should check out Wahoojin. This Japanese denim brand produces high quality premium selvedge jeans featuring historical kimono hand paintings (Yu-Zen). When purchasing the jeans you are given the option of selecting traditional Japanese images such as peacocks, tigers or dragons that will then be hand-painted on the jeans by master craftsmen. Of course all this doesn't come cheap - prices start at $200 but for that money you will be getting a truly unique pair of jeans.

Everybody Loves Their Old Levi's

ao8.jpg
These days people are forever talking about the latest denim brands, however denim lovers everywhere are still loyal to their old Levi's. Sarah Jessica Parker (above) lives in her Levi’s and recently asked her friends to help track down a style that is no longer available. Charlotte Gainsbourg (see below) loves her vintage high waisted Levi’s so much that she can’t part with them. And on her official website Ashley Olsen (see below) picked Levi’s cut-offs as her must have denim for the summer. With celebrity endorsements and hard-core fans there is no doubt that Levi’s will always remain one of the most important jeans brands regardless of how competitive the denim market becomes.

Coachella Festival Of Celebrity Denim Shorts

cch1.jpg
It seems like the Coachella music festival was celebrity central this weekend and the uniform of choice for female celebs was definetly denim shorts. Here we have Mischa Barton looking like an extra from the movie Almost Famous, Lindsay Lohan looking like a three year old, Amy Winehouse looking in need of a good meal and Courtney Love just looking plain scary.

Swagger / Phenomenon Jeans

Here are some new jeans from Phenomenon, the Japanese brand created by two Japanese rap artists, Big-O and Iggy. The jeans look like pretty standard hip-hop/streewear fair ie they are baggy, dark and stiff. However they do have one interesting feature in that they come complete with an attached pair of red braces. (Source: HighSnobiety)

Electric LadyLand Online Denim Store

el1.jpg
A couple of month ago I signed up to ReviewMe which is a service that allows people to submit things to be reviewed online. I had completeley forgotten about it when earlier this week I got an email saying that online fashion retailer Electric Ladyland had requested a review. Not only that but they were willing to pay me cold hard cash for the privilige, well that sounds like a win-win situation to me, so here goes.

The first thing you notice about Electric Ladyland is that this is not your common or garden, sterile-looking online store with no character. The design immediately gives you strong impression of what this store is all about - sexy maximimalist, rock star, boho-hippy chic.

Great Wall 7 for all Mankind - Boot Cut Eagle Claw Jean

So what about the stuff they sell, well I am no expert on dresses, bags or jewellery so I am going to skip those sections. The heart of this site as far as I am concerned is their Denim Shop which stocks all the leading brands including True Religion, Rock & Republic, 7 For All Mankind, Frankie B and J Brand. Electric Ladyland.com seem to specialise in a partcular type of what I would call California Rock Star Denim which means it is comes faded and with lots of embellishments, patches, studs, applique, stitching and back pocket designs (see above). If you like your denim to come ready accessorized then this is the place definetly for you.

If you have something denim related that you would like me to review on Denimology then please feel free to contact me via ReviewMe.

Exclusive - Victoria Beckham in DVB Denim

vb13.jpg
When I first posted these photos of Victoria Beckham last week I thought they were of interest because she was one of the first celebs to get her white jeans out of mothballs for the summer. In actual fact these photos are far more newsworthy because they are the very first photos of Victoria Beckham's soon to be launched signature dVb Denim Collection. If you look closely at the back pocket you can just about make out the dVb branding in red which looks to exactly the same as the official logo (see below). Thanks goes out to eagle-eyed denim afficianado Alicia for this tip off.
