Ressurect Your Favourite Jeans
Denim Therapy claim to be able to reconstruct any degree of worn or tattered denim. Instead of a patch, the jeans are analyzed and prepped with a fusable fabric that's used under the hole. Then the proper color thread is selected and it's into an embroidery machine which reweaves the fabric. The end result (see photo) whilst not quite a brand new pair jeans sure beats having to through your old jeans away.

"These 501 5 button blue jeans have been worn very little. They were my grandfather's and he died in 1962 so I know they were purchased prior to that date. They actually measure 34x 29. There are no holes. Single stitching, redline in the inseam and the Big E is visable in the back pocket tag. There is no inside tag and the ouside tag reads "Levi Strauss & Co., San Francisco, Ca, Original Rivited, Quality Clothing XX, Patented May .....,Every Garment Guaranteed, Lot 501XX W36 L31. More Levis Premium Denim - For Men
In an earlier post I mentioned the new Levis Capital E Premium Denim range for women. Finally I have found details of some of the men's styles including the Skinner Manchester which is low rise with a slim leg flaring through the calf in a boot cut. The hand-fading looks great with high-contrast fading through the seat, lap and knees, and whiskering through all stress points front and back. While the whiskers and fades are intense, the denim comes in a stiffer, more raw-feeling texture for a distinctive look and feel. These and other Capital E jeans are not available in the UK but can be bought online from UrbanOutfitters in the USA.
The Dilemma Of How To Shorten Your Jeans
A common problem that I have come across when buying premium denim jeans is that they are often too long. You cannot simply have them taken up without ruining the vintage look that you have just paid top dollar for.

I recommend finding a tailor that can shorten your jeans and then reattached the original hem with an invisible seam. Don't ask me how they do it, but you cannot tell the jeans have been shortened.

I don't know what is more lame about the announcement that Levi's is planning to launch a range of iPod jeans - the fact that it took them so long to come up with the idea or the thought that anyone would think a pair of jeans would look better with extra pockets.

Over in the US Levis have launched a new premium range of jeans for women under the Capital E brand. These jeans feature extensive hand-finishing and take up to 15 people to make each pair. Unique details don't come cheap though and the jeans will be retailing at between $140-$500. No news of when these jeans will be available in the UK but if you can't wait you can always try to pick up a pair on eBay.
Howies - New UK Organic Denim
Howies is an online retailer that I came across recently. I have been looking for a pair of untreated dark jeans and they sell some 13oz OSD jeans which looked just the ticket. The fact that they offer a no quibble freepost returns service meant that there was nothing to lose in giving them a try.
The jeans were delivered within 48 hours in some expensive looking organic style packing. The quality and colour of the denim was excellent. However, I think the people at Howies must all be pretty slim because there was no way I was going to squeeze my normally 32inch waist into these jeans, which was a shame because other than that they fitted great. Overall, I would recommend giving Howies a try, if you don't like what you have bought you can always return for free for a no quibble refund.
