Welcome to Denimology

If like me you are addicted to hunting for the perfect pair of jeans then you have come to the right place.

Denimology brings you up to date news and reviews of the best premium and vintage denim available online and on the high street.

Celebrity Denim - Adriana Lima (& Friends)

If you need any proof that bootcut jeans are far from over then check out the above photo of supermodel Adriana Lima (left) in 7 For All Mankind and fellow Brazilian babes Izabel Goulart and Alessandra Ambrosio (right) in True Religion. If you ask me when jeans looks this good they are never going to go out of fashion.

Celebrity Denim - Victoria Beckham

Victoria Beckham is not one to miss an opportunity to promote herself or her line of premium denim. Here she is being escorted by hubby David Beckham whilst wearing her own limited edition Rock & Repubic Black Crown white jeans. These jeans seem to be pretty hard to get hold of online, if you are lucky you may find some in your size on eBay

Celebrity Denim - Nicole Richie

Nicole Richie is a fan of Tsubi Jeans from Australia. Here she is seen wearing their Super Skinny Zip Jeans, Squwark Rinse (above left) and Stretch Lean Bean Jeans, Vintage Indigo (above right).

Spotting Fake Diesel Jeans On eBay

EBay is a great place to get premium jeans at a reduced price but one thing you have to be extra careful about is fakes. EBay does not actively police every auction and therefore it is reasonably easy to put counterfeit items up for sale. Here (courtesy of eBay) is what to look for if you want to be sure you are buying genuine Diesel jeans

Micro-Stitching: Below the 'Made in Italy' marking, there is silvery white stitching that when you look closely will say 'Diesel'.

Small Numbers: Tiny, hard to read numbers appear above the Indian head tag inside authentic jeans

Distress and rip marks: Authentic Diesel jeans are hand-distressed while fakes are typically created by machine. Due to this, fake jeans distress marks may appear less-realistic and more like scratches or precise rips.

Frankie B - Super Low Super Tight

Frankie B Jeans know that when it comes to denim comfort comes a distant second to looks. Their super low-rise, super butt-hugging jeans do not leave anything to the imagination.

Boyfriend Jeans

Even though every magazine and newspaper is pushing skinny jeans as the must have of the moment the simple fact of the matter is that not everyone looks good in a pair of skintight jeans. Another style that is far more forgiving is the boyfriend cut which is tight around the rear but relaxed in the legs. The best ones around at the moment are Yanuk Worker Boyfriend (see above), Hudson Boyfriend and Miss Sixty Perkins.

Kicking Mule Workhop Jeans

Kicking Mule Workshop are a new men's denim brand I came across at the weekend. They tick all the right premium denim boxes by being made from heavy 13oz japanese raw denim and having a minimum amount of distressing. They come in four no-nonsense styles - 1950 Classic, 1972 Boot Cut, 1980 Skinny and 2010 Straight.

Chip & Pepper's Naomi Campbell T-Shirt

Chip & Pepper have released a topical t-shirt (see above) to celebrate Naomi Campbell's love of their jeans. Naomi recently got herself arrested after assaulting her housekeeper whom she has accused of stealing her Chip & Pepper Nik Jeans. Chip Foster, designer of Chip & Pepper denim was quoted as saying “we always knew we make amazing jeans that are worth fighting over".

Jessica Simpson Sued For Not Wearing Jeans

Jessica Simpson is being sued for $100million by The Tarrant Apparel Group for failing to promote a line of jeans which she licensed her name to. The company claims that the singer refused to be photographed wearing items from the JS by Jessica Simpson and Princy collections which led to the lines being "crippled by the non-involvement of Simpson". The notoriously dippy actress even went so far as to name True Religion (see above photo) as her favourite jeans rather than her own brand.

Sienna Miller - The Face Of Pepe Jeans

Pepe Jeans have announced that Sienna Miller to be the face of their brand for the next two years. The first campaign to feature the actress is inspired by the movie "And Got Created Women" which originally starred Bridget Bardot. Using Sienna Miller is a pretty smart move by Pepe as not only is she known for being a trendsetter but she is also rarely out of the gossip columns these days.

Celebrity Denim - Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan is pretty partial to a pair of Joe's Jeans, here she is in Rocker in Eve (above left) and Socialite-Boy in Eno (above right) .

Skinny, Skinnier, Skinniest Jeans

SkinnySkinnierSkinniest

If you have a pair of boots which you don't want to hide under bootcuts jeans then you should check out J Brand who are producing some of the tightest jeans on the market. They started with the 14 inches "cigarette leg", two months later came the even slimmer 12 inch "pencil leg" and now we have the 10 inch "super skinny". The only problem is you may have to stop eating for a couple of days in order to fit into these jeans.

Cheap Monday - Cheap Premium Skinny Jeans

Not all premium jeans come with a premium price tag. Cheap Monday jeans are yet another new denim brand coming from Sweden. These punk rock skinny fit jeans come in a number of different colours (black, white, red) and best of all they will only set you back about £40. The only thing you will have to be careful about is worrying your local churchgoers who might not like the company logo:

which features a skull with an inverted cross on it's forehead. Cheap Monday founder Bjorn Atldax insists he has a purpose beyond selling denim - to make young people question Christianity, which he called a "force of evil" that had sparked wars throughout history. It seems like it's not just the jeans that are punk rock, the founder likes to stir up a bit of trouble as well.

StyleHive - Fashion Community

StyleHive is a great new shopping/design/fashion community I came across last week. You can use it to bookmark, tag and share your favourite products, sites, store or designers. Of particular interest to me is the denim community which is already full of loads of great denim resources.
