ID These Bleached and Ripped Jeans!

Several months back, I spotted Angela Simmons in the most amazing pair of jeans. No one was wearing anything this shredded or bleached yet. As a matter of fact, I don't know if anyone has gone quite this far as of yet either! Then on the season finale of Making the Band 4, D. Woods wore the SAME unknown jeans! I still have not figured out who makes these ripped and bleached jeans.

They look a LOT like Siwy but this "wash" looks unique to anything I have seen from Siwy at this point. Does Siwy do celeb exclusive washes like 7 For All Mankind? If you know these jeans PLEASE PLEASE email me! I have GOT to know!

The 'Jegging'

So we have our Denimology submission for word of the year! We started to see this hybrid of super tight jeans and leggings having a strong presence in the London stores in January this year, and noted with interest how the retailers were describing this new denim-ish item. TopShop began by calling them knitted jeans, Urban Outfitters went with the 'pull on jean', but Asos.com came up with the jegging (do I need to point out it's a combination of the word jean with the word legging?!) and we had a winner.

We're pretty sure that London is the world center for the jegging trend, as we in the UK are suckers for a trend that is both fashion forward and not necessarily flattering to all! Just as the bootcut emerged from LA, so we can now proudly lay claim to the jegging. Certainly, it will be all over the stores across the world this Autumn, and after that, who knows how long it will stick around? The shape is practical and comfortable, and great with boots in winter but also lighter than skinny jeans in summer. Jeggins either come in denim-look knitted fabric - more like your classic legging - or a light and super-stretchy woven fabric which pretty much qualifies as real denim.

]]> We've taken the opportunity to do a brief review of the best sources for the jegging, and really for this kind of thing, you need to go straight to the source: TopShop. Other good high street sources in the UK are River Island and Urban Outfitters. For those of you nowhere near any of these stores, Asos.com is your other destination. If you are looking for premium 'jegging' style jeans, Goldsign has a fabulously soft and stretchy pair in indigo, and Citizens of Humanity have a black pair. Look for Rayon and Cupro in the fibre content, and you'll find the softest, stretchiest jeans you've ever worn.

The film centers around a nerdy valedictorian who proclaims his love for the most popular girl in school (Hayden) during his graduation speech. It opens July 10th.

Diesel Releases Paper Denim Cloth

Diesel has recently developed a paper denim cloth. This type of denim is new for the Autumn Winter season and comes in the "Keever" fit, which is slightly carrot shaped.

Cotton paper denim is a light weight resistant denim, dry to touch and completely "natural". The fabric is not only extremely light and breathable, but is also very strong. The particularity of this fabric is the presence of paper weft, which cause the reakings to be so particular and irregular and the denim to have an original stiff touch. You will find the Keever cut in the paper denim cloth available in Diesel stores in August.

Denim is playing a huge role in the movie paying homage to the 70's and we've seen Dakota in a crazy denim pantsuit, vintage Dittos and now in Levi's with the most awesome sky-high boots! Kristen is carrying a jean jacket to go along with the leather pants that she will likely wear throughout the film.

Are Ripped Up Jeans A Rip Off?

Some of the oldest adages in fashion follow the belief that " What's old is new" or "What comes around goes around". There is no denying the ripped, sliced, shredded and torn denim style gracing the derrieres of A-List to D-List Celebs is a bonafide hit reminiscent of the trend from some 20 odd years ago. The Daily Mail had a little grumble about the trend saying, "They look like they've been pulled out of the back of the wardrobe for the first time in 20 years ... the new trend for oh-so-Eighties ripped jeans is a habit that is costing the A-list a fortune."

This article got me really curious what the rest of us non-celebs are doing with our denim.
