Gwyneth Paltrow took to the front row in support of her friend Stella McCartney at the Paris Spring RTW show wearing McCartney's own acid wash skinny jeans and white boyfriend blazer (love the shoulder pads). She was seated between Sir Paul McCartney who was spoke to reporters about his daughter, and the great actress Charlotte Rampling

Balenciaga Spring 2010 Ready to Wear

Balenciaga showed in Paris last week with bold tops and patchwork "jeans". Well, if Alexander Wang can do denim leather, why can't Balenciaga? The "denim" is actually vegetable-dyed leather, but we still think these pieces qualify to be featured on Denimology!

Hussein Chalayan / J Brand Spring/Summer RTW

Hussein Chalayan stood at the back of the runway disguised as a man at a pulpit with a baby grand piano as he presented his Spring/Summer 2010 RTW collection in Paris. Channeling the 50's with cone bras and his own sense of surreal fashion, Chalayan included pieces from his collaboration with Los Angeles based J Brand at the show which took place at Couvent des Cordeliers. The knee length denim pencil skirt in Aspen and the Capri pant also in Aspen made their way to the runway twice and will be available in December as part of the Hussein/J Brand collaboration which is growing into more than a one off collection. President and Co-Founder, Jeff Rudes was in attendance and said, "The Spring/Summer 2010 J Brand/Hussein Chalayan collection is not only capturing the momentum of the success of the Fall 2009 launch but is also taking the collaboration to the next level."

Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2010 RTW

Designer Jean Paul Gaultier revisited his lingerie theme again this season, calling the collection "The G Spot" - way to be subtle! Although Gaultier has done undergarment-inspired designs in the past, we love that Madonna's infamous cone-bra corset made appearances in several pieces such as in the bodice of the satin engineer-styled overalls that look like denim. First denim leather from Alexander Wang, now denim satin from Gaultier! J'adore! In the audience were burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese, singer Katy Perry, and denim diva Rihanna.

Balmain Spring 2010 Collection - Part II

balmain10.jpg

Yesterday's post
on the Balmain Spring 2010 Collection featured denim shorts, so today we have a look at the jeans which have a strong military vibe - thanks to the green/brown army-fatigue color scheme and combat style pockets. The influence of Balmain is far reaching in the world of fashion so don't be suprised if you see camouflage-style jeans appearing on the high street next year.

Balmain Spring 2010 Collection

When Balmain showed their Spring 2009 Collection they blew people away with their luxury ripped jeans (which retailed at £1000+) and super wide shoulders (which are now filtering down to the mainstream). The Spring 2010 Collection is all Mad Max type leather and slinky gold chainmail but there is still room for a couple of interesting pairs of denim shorts featuring zips, rips and and worn with a post-apocalyptic bullet belt.
