Rock & Republic Fall/Winter 2007 Show in NY

Rock & Republic's New York Fashion Week Catwalk Show was held at Cipriani on 42nd Street and apparently cost them $2.5million. For that amount of money they must be counting on shifting a lot of product. These days Rock & Republic is rapidly trying to establish itself as a lifestyle brand complete with a full collection of clothing and accessories. Rag & Bone started off making jeans but their show at New York Fashion week is another example of how denim brands use jeans as their springboard to becoming proper clothing brands. There weren't too many jeans to be seen in this show, but what there was looked cool, classy and quite shiny indeed. The show was attended by Sienna Miller who all is over the media at the moment thanks to her new movie Factory Girl which premiered in New York this week.

Baby Phat Fall/Winter 2007 Show in New York

Baby Phat had both men's and women's jeans on show at New York Fashion Week. The women's collection was typically over the top with gold threading, buttons and flowers running up and down the legs. These are jeans for women who want everyone to know how glamorous they are, I guess like the Amazonian designer Kimora Lee Simmons. The men's collection was much more subdued consisting of simple looking baggy, raw denim jeans which is just as well because nobody wants to seee guys running round with embroidered flowers all over their jeans. The show was atteneded by a rather frumpy looking Britney Spears (see photos here).

New York Fashion Week kicked off with a catwalk show from Miss Sixty that included less denim than might of been expected. Of the jeans that were on show nothing really caught the eye - most had the same old distressing as has been around for years, with waists being maybe a little higher than of late. Celebs in attendance included Pink (in a dodgy denim dress) Adrian Brody and Jade Jagger.
