Statement From RMC Jeans About Fakes

I have written before about the fake RMC (Red Monkey Company) Jeans (such as the fake Wu Tang Jeans above) which are currently for sale in a number of stores. To help clear up the situation Martin Ksohoh has released a statement (page 1 and page 2) which should hopefully clear up any confusion that has arisen. If you are still unsure about whether any RMC jeans are fake please contact RMCJeans.co.uk

SuperDenim UK Japanese Denim Store

sd2.jpg
When it comes to men's denim the best stuff is made in Japan. Which is all well and good if you live over there but it's not so good for the rest of us. Outside of Japan there are only two stores in the USA (SelfEdge and Blue In Green) selling brands like Sugarcane, Eternal and Pure Blue. Finally we have someone importing quality denim into the UK - SuperDenim.co.uk is now stocking Japanese brands Studio D'Artisan and Kato and Swedish brand Denim Demon.

Here is the new ad campaign for Edwin Jeans featuring Brad Pitt. Is it me of does it look like this photo has suffered from some dodgy photoshopping? It almost looks like the waist and legs belong to another, skinnier person.

WRGmag.com has an interesting interview with Kiya Babzani owner of SelfEdge specialist denim store in San Francisco. This man has a personal collection of between 400-450 jeans - so he obviously know what he is talking about when it comes to denim.

Beware Of Fake Red Monkey Company Jeans

Fake RMC Red Monkey Jeans

Regular readers of this site may remember that I posted a couple of news items relating to Red Monkey Ganga Jean (see above) and Wu Tang Jeans (see below). Well it turns out that although these jeans are being sold by a reputable store they are both fakes. Confirmation of this comes from the designer himself - Martin Ksohoh who you can see below giving these crappy fake jeans the thumbs down. Here are some tips of what to look out for when purchasing RMC Red Monkey Jeans:
  1. Must have leather patch, not pvc on waist band.
  2. Must have individual laser cut serial numbers on the patch.
  3. Must be made in Hong Kong.
  4. Selvedge must be red and green and not just red
  5. Denim must be made out of unbleached cotton (inside has yellowish tint) and not bleached cotton (inside is whitesh or blue white colour).
  6. Any questions contact the owners 1001@1001original.com, rmcjapan@jupiter.ocn.ne.jp or sales@rmcjeans.co.uk
Alternatively, to be sure that you are getting genuine RMC Jeans, make sure you buy them from Togged.com
