Levi's - Powersliding Is Not A Crime
It's nice to see a multinational corporation like Levi's encouraging people to attempt some Jackass-style stunts. Levi's are holding a Powersliding event on April 15 at Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica, CA where legendary powersliders in 501's will be showing off classic moves like the moldy smurf and the rusty rose. If you are not sure what powersliding actually is checkout the above video.
Cheap Monday Distressed Denim World Tour

Great News: our fav under $100 per-pair-brand, Cheap Monday, is here in New York. As of this Monday, the meticulous Swedish jean's maker set up shop in SoHo at trendy boutique Inven.Tory. Located at 19 Kenmare Street, New York, NY 10012, the store is open 12-8 daily.
However, here's the bad news of the story: They are only here while their inventory is available, and they've only brought with them exactly 50 pairs of jeans. And to be even more exact, "50 pairs of one-of-a-kind distressed unisex jeans that have undergone customized sandpapering, punching, patching, sewing and various other destructive treatments and washing," says Elle Magazine. The jeans are even numbered-#201-250.
Dubbed the "Cheap Monday Distressed Denim World Tour" the brand is making various and poignant store-stops in Stockholm, Copenhagen, New York, Berlin, and London, bringing to us sweet one of a kind and limited edition denim. There are also rumors that the brand will head to Tokyo and possibly Los Angeles, as well.
The initial price point of any given pair of Cheap Monday's, as you probably already know, is around $70.00. Well, these limited edition distressed jeans? $70.00. No joke. I have a feeling that eBay may be flooded. Let us know if you make it to the sale!

J Brand and Chalayan Collaboration in Works
J Brand, the jeans we have come to know and love over the past few years for simple lines and a clean cut, is branching out. This fall, like many of the other denim brands out there, we will watch as J Brand gently fuses their brand in a designer collaboration.
UK-based designer Hussein Chalayan may not have been the obvious "celebrity" choice that other lines have pushed towards their forefront as of late, but Mr. Chalayan certainly does pack the punch of fashion giant PPR (Gucci Group, Puma, etc...)
During his own Fall 2009 RTW collection in Paris earlier this month, models wore the sexiest styles we have seen from Chalayan in years (bottom skimming pencil skirts, garter belts, thigh high slits)--showing that he has more edge and selling power than ever. Principals from J Brand were standing by (sitting by actually-in the front row that is) just brimming over with hope and excitement.
No words on a retailer for the joint effort yet, although my personal opinion would place all bets safely on Neiman Marcus. And, as for styles, bearing in mind that Chalayan is quite the avante-garde himself, don't you think that he might take it just a little further than a couple of ankle zippers? Oh, I think he might! Stay tuned...
