Ashlee Simpson in Vintage Dittos

I need to know where Ashlee Simpson shops, as I am so envious of her vintage jeans. We saw her once before in vintage Dittos jeans and here she is in another pair. Dittos the brand became famous in the 70's for their saddleback bellbottoms. Their iconic pockets will even be making an appearance in the new Runaways movie. Relaunched two years ago, Dittos (old and new) pays homage to a look that is still popular today.
Blue Gold: The Movie

We've just received information about a new film all about denim and jeans. Sounds like our kind of movie. Here's the inside scoop: "A new documentary, BLUE GOLD, follows the fascinating story of the blue jean, a truly American icon that has evolved into a global phenomenon. This historic journey that begins in rural Nevada more than 130 years ago when the jean was a miner's solution to a working man's pant, travels throughout the US, all the way to a denim auction in Yokohama, Japan. Speaking with collector's, dealers, designers, legends and historians, this unique film creates the narrative for the behind-the-scenes players in this subculture. The relentless search for vintage jeans is a continued source of inspiration for high-end designers and brands as well as for collectors all over the world. Nowhere is this more apparent than in Japan, where an estimated 80% of all vintage denim resides today, along with the original Levi's shuttle looms discarded by American factories after World War II. Japanese fascination and adaptation of Americana is hugely responsible for having generated the current interest in vintage jeans. BLUE GOLD is a positive film about the global love for American blue jeans..."

1970's Denim Advertising

We've been thumbing through this fabulous book for a few weeks now, recommended to us by Indigo Slims' denim blog and it is still making us laugh! It's not simple a denim book, but an anthology of fashion and beauty adverts from the 1970's. However, denim was a pretty major feature of the fashions of the decade, so there are many great inspirations for fit and wash tucked amongst the adverts for Musk, and some truly genius photos and advertising copy. Almost the best thing about the book though is how it shows truly how little things change; premium denim was front and center in the 1970's, and it was all about the fit then as it is now.

Dakota Fanning in Vintage Dittos

Dakota Fanning spent her weekend working on The Runaways seen here filming in Los Angeles wearing vintage bellbottoms. This pair is by Dittos, with the pintuck and signature pocket of the iconic brand. The 70's never seem to go out of fashion. My prediction is that we'll see a massive wave of 70's style once young girls flock to see this film.

Dakota Fanning is Cherie Currie

I might as well buy my ticket to The Runaways now because I can't believe the transformation Dakota Fanning has made for her role as Cherie Currie. Wearing a denim jumpsuit (I can forgive the Ugg slippers for walking around onset) she is embodying the iconic lead singer from head to toe.
